John and Kelly DeAngelis to serve as chairs of 2025 Sound Minds® celebration

NAPLES, FL (May 20, 2024) – David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health (DLC), the only comprehensive, not-for-profit behavioral health provider in Collier County, is honored to announce John and Kelly DeAngelis as chairs of the 2025 Sound Minds celebration. This annual signature event raises critical funding intended to provide access to quality care for children, families and adults.

The 2025 event will be held on March 20, 2025, at the Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburon. This moving and thought-provoking event will feature an inspiring conversation with Emmy Award-winning actor and two-time Golden Globe nominee Dennis Quaid.

“We are beyond grateful to have John and Kelly DeAngelis serve as the chairs for our 2025 Sound Minds celebration,” said Kimberly A. Dye, vice president of advancement at DLC. “They have been longtime supporters of DLC and are steadfast in their commitment to making sure everyone in our community has access to lifesaving and life-changing behavioral health care in their moments of need.”

Born in West Virgina and raised in Naples, John DeAngelis is the co-founder of DeAngelis Diamond, an innovative, nationally recognized construction management firm licensed in 37 states. Alongside cofounder David Diamond, John built the mission of the firm on seven core values: Faith in God, The Honor to Build, Lasting Relationships, Excellence and Quality, Leadership, Healthy Environment and Culture, and Integrity. While headquartered in Naples, DeAngelis Diamond is proud to have opened the latest office, the firm’s eighth, in the trendy Gulch district in Nashville earlier this year.

Under John’s guidance, DeAngelis Diamond offers continual opportunities and programs focused on prioritizing the mental health and well-being of its employees.

The DeAngelises have been supporters of DLC, both personally and through DeAngelis Diamond, for more than a decade. John DeAngelis currently serves on the DLC President’s Cabinet, a group of volunteer trustees committed to the mission and future of DLC.

“Kelly and I are honored to chair David Lawrence Centers’ 2025 Sound Minds event. As parents, grandparents and co-founder of DeAngelis Diamond, we feel an immense responsibility to ensure the health and wellbeing of not just our family, but our community; this includes mental health,” said John DeAngelis. “Quoted as saying that faith saved him, we are honored to have legendary actor Dennis Quaid sharing his journey on the Sound Minds stage next year. We would be blessed to have you join us for this important evening to support one another and assist DLC to drive transformational change. Together, we will raise awareness and make a lasting impact on mental health in our community. May God bless you all!”

In addition to DLC, John and Kelly DeAngelis support a variety of Southwest Florida charitable organizations, including co-chairing the American Heart Association Heart Ball in 2020. John is also the founder and director of the Ephesians 3:20 Foundation, an elder at Summit Church, and currently serves

on the advisory board of the University of Florida Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies. The couple also frequently participates in mission trips to China, Cambodia, Haiti and South America, working with orphanages and ministries that rescue women and children from human trafficking.

In their spare time, the couple enjoys spending time with their children Lauren, Drue, Maddie, Jade, and Zara; sons-in-law, Bill and Gus; and grandchildren Selah, Everly, Hope, Mya, Lena and Sutton.

Now in its 12th year, the Sound Minds signature event serves as an opportunity to shine a light on the work DLC is doing to provide life-changing and lifesaving behavior health care to all who need it. Raising $1.5 million at the 2024 event, Sound Minds is an engaging and informative evening featuring moving stories of hope, while also raising the critical funding necessary to provide high-quality healthcare to children, families and adults throughout the community.

DLC recently announced Quaid as the 2025 Sound Minds featured speaker. The award-winning actor is known for his roles in hit films “The Rookie,” “The Day After Tomorrow,” “Traffic,” “Vantage Point,” “Frequency,” “The Parent Trap,” “Soul Surfer,” “The Right Stuff,” “Breaking Away,” “Midway,” and many more. In 2022, Quaid co-starred with Jake Gyllenhaal in Disney’s animated adventure film “Strange World.” On the film and television side, Quaid’s recent big-screen credits include starring roles in Netflix’s uplifting film “Blue Miracle,” Sony’s thriller “The Intruder,” Universal’s “A Dog’s Journey,” and “A Dog’s Purpose,” and Roadside Attractions’ “I Can Only Imagine,” among others. Quaid recently completed production portraying the 40th president of the United States in the biopic “Reagan,” produced by Mark Joseph and directed by Sean McNamara. Alongside his acting career, Quaid is also a respected singer-songwriter with hundreds of thousands of miles under his belt as a recording and touring musician who’s been playing music since his grandfather bought him his first guitar.

A riveting speaker, Quaid is expected to captivate the audience with engaging stories about his illustrious film career and stories behind the highly personal songs that populate his inspirational album, “Fallen,” released in 2023 via Gaither/Primary Wave.
