The Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence has awarded a grant to The Shelter for Abused Women and Children (The Shelter) to fund onsite counseling to survivors of domestic violence utilizing a DLC Licensed Clinician. The Center will treat Shelter participants seeking substance use counseling and co-facilitate onsite weekly support groups at the emergency shelter.

The grant will advance the support available to victims of domestic violence in our community.

Through the expanded partnership, DLC will also serve on The Shelter’s Multidisciplinary Collaborative Planning and Development Team to examine the intersection of domestic violence and substance use and address the needs of survivors of domestic violence who are seeking substance use services in Collier County. This Team will be responsible for researching and implementing tools to train Shelter and DLC staff about the dynamics of domestic violence and the needs and barriers survivors face.
