New Acute Care Psychiatrist Adds Additional Expertise to Growing Medical Team

Evelio H. Sosa, M.D., is the newest member of the David Lawrence Center’s diverse, expert As an Adult Staff Psychiatrist in the Acute Services Department he will provide psychiatric medical services for the inpatient Crisis Stabilization Unit , Baker Act Receiving Facility and the Emergency Services Assessment Center.
David Schimmel, CEO of the David Lawrence Centers, states, “Dr. Sosa joins Dr. Michael Corbin, Dr. Ronald Markby and Dr. Ronny Valenzuela as the newest member of the outstanding and knowledgeable Acute Care physician team. His vast expertise in the inpatient psychiatric treatment setting will help the Center manage the growing demand for emergency mental health services where we see the most complex cases – a growing number of which have a co-occurring mental health and substance use diagnosis.”

By joining the David Lawrence Centers, Dr. Sosa is now part of the largest psychiatric medical practice in Collier County – now 13 total members strong and growing. The medical team includes Adult Psychiatrists, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists and Advanced Registered Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners with a variety of expertise and specialties who provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning and medication management services for children, adolescents, adults and the elderly throughout Naples and Immokalee.

Dr. Sosa earned his doctor of medicine from the University of Monterrey in Mexico and completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of South Florida College of Medicine.

In addition to his position with the David Lawrence Centers, Dr. Sosa has a private practice in Coral Gables and provides outpatient psychiatric services for Leon Medical Center in Miami. He is also fluent in English and Spanish

Dr. Sosa brings more than 15 years of experience to his position providing psychiatric services in an inpatient and outpatient treatment setting. Prior to joining the David Lawrence Centers, he served as a Staff Psychiatrist in the Inpatient Services Department for Mental Health Incorporated Community Mental Health Clinic, Director of the Partial Hospitalization Program at Coral Gables Hospital, Director of the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit for Mercy Hospital and Director of the Partial Hospitalization Program for Health Connections.
