David Lawrence Centers Adds to Medical Team

Naples, Fl – David Lawrence Centers (DLC), Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit mental health and addiction recovery treatment center serving children, adults and families, is pleased to announce that Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, Alfride Prevost-Ricardo, and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Kathy Owens, have joined the Medical Team.

Alfride Prevost-Ricardo is a full-time, licensed Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in Adult Outpatient Services. Prevost-Ricardo has extensive knowledge and experience in psychiatric and mental health nursing. He has worked as a clinician and a psychiatric nurse practitioner in community health, private practice, and crisis stabilization unit settings.

Prior to joining DLC, Prevost-Ricardo worked for seven years at a community health organization helping adults, children, and families recover from the effects of mental illness, substance use, trauma, and homelessness.

Prevost-Ricardo earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Atlantic Union College, is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Lowell Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Science program, and received his Master’s degree in Psychopharmacology from the Neuroscience Education Institution.

Prevost-Ricardo is certified by the American Nursing Credentialing Center as an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Prevost-Ricardo is proficient in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Kathy Owens is a full-time, licensed Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner serving adults in Outpatient Services as well as in the Crossroads Addiction Recovery Continuum who reside in the detox and residential treatment programs.

She has more than 20 years of nursing experience in community mental health, outpatient and hospital settings.

Prior to joining DLC, Kathy most recently worked as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in non-profit, community mental health and addiction recovery treatment centers in Ohio. Prior to that, she worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner for children and adults in an outpatient clinic, for adults in a pain management clinic and as a registered nurse in a hospital trauma center.

Owens earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Miami University, her Master of Science in Nursing from Wright State University and Post Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Cincinnati.

Owens has a dual certification by the American Nursing Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is additionally certified by the Addictions Nursing Certification Board in Advanced Practice.  She is also waivered to provide Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid dependence with Buprenorphine.

Owens is an associate member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, American Nurses Association, and the Psychiatric Nurses Association.
