DAVID LAWRENCE CENTER ANNOUNCES SALE OF CHILD’S PATH PRESCHOOL TO COLLIER CHILD CARE RESOURCES

Naples, Fl – The David Lawrence Centers, Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit mental health and substance use treatment facility serving children, adults and families, announced today the sale of its award-winning Child’s Path Preschool to Collier Child Care Resources (CCCR). The transaction is expected to close in the next 30-60 days.

Child’s Path Preschool, located off of Santa Barbara Boulevard, was originally established by the David Lawrence Centers in the 1980’s as a means to provide Center employees with discounted, affordable high quality child care services. Child’s Path was later opened to the public and has grown to become a well-respected, full-service preschool and volunteer pre-kindergarten program in Collier County serving children two to five. In 2012 Child’s Path was named the Naples Daily News Readers Choice Star Award for best child care and in 2016 was a finalist in the Gulfshore Life Magazine “Best of the Gulfshore Awards” for Best Child Care in Collier County.

David Lawrence Centers CEO Scott Burgess said, “We are very pleased that CCCR will build upon the amazing legacy that Child’s Path has demonstrated for more than 30 years. We believe the community will greatly benefit from the synergies created by merging these two incredible childcare programs. Our plan is to reinvest the proceeds from the sale into further expanding our mission-critical mental health and substance use services that are desperately needed in Collier County as outlined in our board-approved five-year strategic plan.”

Collier Child Care Resources, Inc. (CCCR) is a private, not-for-profit child care agency whose sole purpose is to provide childhood care, education and resources to children, families and early learning professionals in Collier County. CCCR currently owns and operates the award-winning NCEF Early Childhood Development Center located on the Florida South Western State College Collier Campus and the A Step Up Child Development Centers at Golden Gate and Immokalee High Schools.

CCCR Executive Director Niccole Howard said, “Demand for high quality, affordable child care programming available at our NCEF Early Childhood Development Center has resulted in a staggering wait-list. We are excited to bring Child’s Path Preschool into the umbrella of that programming and increase our ability to provide access to these services.”

CCCR plans to maintain the Child’s Path Preschool brand and will retain all staff making the transition seamless for children currently enrolled in the school and their parents.

Howard adds, “The reputation, dedicated long-term teaching staff and the school’s location made the decision to acquire Child’s Path easy.”

About Collier Child Care Resources, Inc.
Collier Child Care Resources’ (CCCR) mission is to provide high quality early childhood care, education and resources to children, families and early learning professionals in Collier County. Our organization currently serves approximately 275 children annually through our three child development centers: NCEF Early Childhood Development Center, and A Step Up Child Development Centers located at Golden Gate and Immokalee High Schools operated through CCCR. At NCEF Early Childhood Development Center, 75 percent of the children who attend are from low-income, working families and receive partial financial assistance through CCCR. Of the children enrolled 60 percent live at or below the Federal Poverty Line. A Step Up Child Development Centers focus on children of teen mothers by offering free valuable child care and parenting classes while they continue their high school education; this allows for a better future for them and their child, without worry of needing to pay for childcare. We also offer training workshops for early learning professionals and early childhood conferences. In 2014, we served over 1,750 people with training and educational resources.
