Senior Advancement Officer

Miriam Pereira serves as DLC’s Senior Advancement Officer. In this role, Pereira stewards DLC’s corporate and foundation relationships while nurturing philanthropic engagements with individual supporters.

Pereira has worked for human services nonprofit organizations in Lee and Collier counties for over 10 years. Before joining DLC, she served as the Chief Philanthropy Officer with STARability Foundation and the Development Director for Harry Chapin Food Bank. Prior to that, she enjoyed a career in print journalism for 20 years, many of them as a reporter and editor for The News-Press (Gannett).

Pereira majored in mass communication and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida International University. She also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Florida Gulf Coast University. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), a credential that stresses the importance of professionalism, continuing education, ethical behavior, and demonstrated fundraising achievement in the not-for-profit sector.
