David Lawrence Centers Expands Advancement Team to Meet the Increased Demand for Behavioral Health Services in SWFL

Naples, Fl – David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health (DLC), Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit behavioral health treatment center serving children, adults and families, has welcomed a new fundraising professional to its expanding Advancement Team.

Miriam Pereira has joined the team as the Senior Advancement Officer. In this role, Pereira will steward DLC’s corporate and foundation relationships while nurturing philanthropic engagements with individual supporters.

Pereira has worked for human services nonprofit organizations in Lee and Collier counties for over 10 years. Before joining DLC, she served as the Chief Philanthropy Officer with STARability Foundation and the Development Director for Harry Chapin Food Bank. Prior to that, she enjoyed a career in print journalism for 20 years, many of them as a reporter and editor for The News-Press (Gannett).

A native of Miami, Pereira majored in mass communication and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida International University. She also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Florida Gulf Coast University. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), a credential that stresses the importance of professionalism, continuing education, ethical behavior, and demonstrated fundraising achievement in the not-for-profit sector.

Pereira serves on the Board of the Directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Collier-Lee Chapter, for which she was president in 2019. She also serves on the Board of Directors for ArtFest Fort Myers. She is a 2023 graduate of Leadership Collier and Leadership Lee County class of 2012.

“We are fortunate to have seasoned fundraising professional Miriam Pereira join us at a time when we are meeting unprecedented growth head-on,” said Kimberly Dye, DLC Vice President of Advancement. “As we await the first shovels to turn the dirt where the new Collier County Behavioral Health Center will spring from the ground, we must prepare for the groundswell of support needed to meet the demand for DLC services County-wide.”
